Let's Encrypt Unable to Issue more than 100 Domains on a Certificate Print

  • 1

Let's Encrypt will allow 100 domains to be secured on a single certificate. This limitation is typically not an issue, as cPanel enables you to create domains with distinct document roots. As such, when reaching the 100 domain limitation, a new certificate is created for additional domains.

When you wish to park domains on a single document root, such as your public_html folder, you are limited to a maximum of 100 domains before our AutoSSL system cannot issue further certificates. When you attempt to add domains beyond 100, a certificate attempt will be made and an error in the AutoSSL system will state as follows:

WARN Provider’s per-certificate domain count limit: 100
WARN “Let’s Encrypt™” cannot secure all of “youraccount.com”’s domains. Remove domains from “youraccount.com” to fix this.

We cannot override this limitation as it's a limitation of Let's Encrypt and free SSL certificates. Our recommendation is to stay within 100 individual domains parked in a single location if they all require valid SSL certificates. If all domains display identical content, we recommend individual redirects to the desired domain to avoid duplicate content regardless of the maximum number of domains on a certificate limitation.
